Weather Station: Day 13 - June 5

Today we tested the range of the RFM by running the program that collects the data from the signals given off by the weather station. Then little by little, we moved the weather station backward until the program wasn't picking up anymore data. This is a problem because it stopped working after we moved it about two feet away. This means that we will have to think more about the placement of the weather station and the the RFM chip. Maybe we will have to put the circuit in an enclosed box and put that outside as well.

We also tried to understand the following link because it is very similar to what we are trying to accomplish and the directions could be very useful:

We are going to look more into this tomorrow because this website has caused a lot of confusion.

We discovered a program that allows us to read the serial port so we are thinking if we run this program with the RFM reading signals from the weather station, we can save the data in a text file which means that it will be saved on the SD card for the raspberry pi. Then we think that we can follow the link above to put the data on the Internet from the SD card. We will work more on these ideas tomorrow.

We ended the day by helping set up the temporary mirror on the Viper telescope and taking lots of pictures!
